MEDIANERAS > is formed by Vanesa Galdeano and Anali Chanquia, two women street artists from Rosario, Argentina. MEDIANERAS is the Spanish word for ‘side walls’. Unlike the walls, which are only responsible for separating the spaces, the side walls are those shared between neighbours.
This concept interests us because they believe that public art, besides making cities more beautiful, claims the idea of a shared place – of all individuals. They want to change the way we usually perceive spaces, our intention is to alter the urban landscape of the street.
The piece they made with us is based on a wall they made in Cascais, Portugal. This piece verses on gender fluidity and how complex, beautiful and diverse it is. As they say “Gender is not limited to pink or blue. The future is non-binary”.
